America/New_York
East Campus, 70 Morningside Dr., New York, NY 10027 Heyman Center for the Humanities - Common Room, 2nd floor

Tirades against legal theatrics are nearly as old as law itself, and yet so is the age-old claim that law must not merely be done: it must be "seen to be done." Learn about the history of legal performance and spectatorship through the ancient, medieval, and early modern periods at a SOF/Heyman panel celebration of Julie Stone Peters’s new work, Law as Performance: Theatricality, Spectatorship, and the Making of Law in Ancient, Medieval, and Early Modern Europe.

Participants: Julie Stone Peters, Jesús Velasco, Denise Cruz, Eleanor B Johnson, and Camille Robcis
